Event information

This event has passed.

With the easing of restrictions to sporting clubs from Wednesday, DAC is to resume racing this Saturday 4th July.

This is being done in compliance with the new government guidelines to allow us to enjoy our sport in as safe a manner as possible. To this end:

  • Members will be required to provide contact details when they arrive at the club. Thanks Glenny for volunteering to manage this process.
  • There will be only one entry to the club, via the front door, and one exit via the fire stairs to avoid a pinch point on the stairs.
  • Access to the club and toilets will be limited based on the 4 square metre rule.
  • Thanks to Linda for running the canteen for us on this day. The club has no credit card facilities, but to avoid handling cash the tab system can be used.
  • Tables and chairs will be appropriately distanced, and regularly disinfected.
  • Rescue boats will be disinfected before and after use.
  • Briefings will be conducted over the microphone so people don’t have to gather together.

All club members need to do their part to ensure DAC is able to recommence sailing safely. Obviously, if you've recently been in close contact with a known case of COVID-19, or are feeling unwell or breathless, don’t come.

If you do join us, we ask that you follow the following recommendations …

  • Observer social distancing requirements when rigging, launching and returning to shore.
  • Practice social distancing by avoiding usual greetings and embraces such as hugs or handshakes.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, into your elbow or a tissue that is disposed of immediately after.
  • Avoid close contact with people who have or display symptoms of respiratory illness.
  • Wash hands thoroughly and often with soap and water, especially before eating. Hand sanitiser and soap will be available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
  • The use of showers and the change rooms is allowed under the new regulations, but the safest practice is for you to change and shower at home.

Briefing will be at 12 noon, with the first race at 1 pm.

We’d love to see you there, but we understand if you aren’t able, or don’t wish to come and join us if you are concerned your health could be compromised. Don’t worry, there won’t be a winter pointscore trophy, so you won’t miss out by playing safe!
