Learn to Sail for Children
Consisting of on-shore lessons and time on the water, this is an introductory course for kids 8 to 10 years of age. No prior experience is required but kids should be competent swimmers. Conducted over the course of 20 Saturday mornings from October through to April, with a break at Christmas.

The course covers:
- Rigging
- Rope work
- Sailing techniques and manoeuvres
- Rescue procedures
- Sailing theory and background
- Weather, wind, tide and current
The cost is $380 and includes:
- Coaching by Australian Sailing-qualified coaches, to the Australian Sailing training syllabus
- A loan PFD (personal floatation device)
- DAC membership
- Australian Sailing membership, including logbook and upon graduation, a certification of competency issued by Australian Sailing
- the use of a club boat during the lesson time

Transition Class – Learn to Race Program
The aim of the Transition Class program is to build on the skills learnt in the Learn to Sail for Children program, and prepare participants for fleet racing.
Learn to Windsurf
The Learn to Windsurf course is run twice a year on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm.
This introductory course teaches young people and adults the basics of windsurfing. By the end of the course you will be able to sail to a point and back on a windsurfer.
DAC is an Australian Sailing Registered Training Organisation. Our courses follow the Australian Sailing training syllabus and our coaches and instructors are fully qualified by Australian Sailing.
The cost for the Saturday course is $350 and includes:
- Instruction by Australian Sailing-qualified instructors
- A loan PFD
- Membership to Dobroyd Aquatic Club Limited
- Australian Sailing membership, including logbook and upon graduation, a certification of competency issued by Australian Sailing
- the use of club windsurfing equipment
Bring your own footwear for wearing in the water, hat and sunscreen. Numbers are limited.
Better Windsurfing
On Monday evenings during daylight savings we run a Better WIndsurfing course to refine your skills so that you can expand your windsurfing horizons. Learn how to set your equipment up for different conditions. Ideal for people who have completed the Learn to WIndsurf course and purchased their own equipment. Numbers are limited
