The Radio Control Laser (RC Laser) class has been sailing at Dobroyd Aquatic Club (DAC) since 2005. There are over 15 registered RC Laser members at the club. Dobroyd Aquatic was the first club in Australia to accept the RC Laser as another sailing class. In August last year Dobroyd Aquatic ran the first ever National Championships with over 25 competitors from WA, Vic, Qld & NSW. One of our members, Paul Martin sailed in the UK Nationals last year, representing DAC. Paul is also the Australian Representative for the class where there are large numbers sailing particularly in the UK, Europe & USA. The RC Laser is hard to beat as a Radio Control One Design class as every boat is factory manufactured under licence as is the full sized Laser dinghy. As the advertising slogan states, “from bag to sailing in minutes”. The boat is ready to race straight out of its uniquely designed sailing bag. The full sailing kit includes two masts & four sails that enable you to sail the boat in everything from light winds to quite strong breezes. (See importers link at the right of this page, Radio Control Sailing Australia). The Dobroyd RC Laser group races every second Sunday. There is also the Wednesday Masters Series where retired sailors get together in the afternoon for a sail followed by the mixed fleet twilight series later in the day for those that like to have a sail after work taking advantage of daylight saving. In 2010 dedicated sailing days were introduced for the RC Soling which is a NSW Radio Yachting Association recognised class. Racing generally starts at 2.00PM Summer time & 1.30PM Winter time. The sailing calender can be found on the notices tab on this website. For further information email us at
